Robbie was a great stalwart of the 48 Group for Marconi's work in opening the China market. there were so many cultural ways that were so different and establishing trusted business relations was hard work. Robbie was a really nice calm person to work with. As a group we developed a reputation for reliability and honesty and Robbie was a central part of that. a fine man who helped his country, his company and his colleagues break down the barriers. Many benefitted from his patient work in China, in the UK and ultimately across the world. 

The Icebreakers are still highly regarded by Chinese leaders as representing the UK in opening up China and vice versa.
